Proteus Youth Theatre 11-14 years old

Monday 6.30-8.30pm

Proteus Youth Theatre 11-14 year old group helps young people to build further on drama skills whilst providing a safe space for individuals to be themselves, make new friends and express their ideas, whilst learning new skills.

The group takes a more serious approach to drama and theatre, with more emphasis on performance, focusing on physical theatre, text-based work, devising, characterisation and voice.

Summer Term

Terms typically run for 10 weeks. Summer term begins Monday 22nd April and ends on Monday 8th July
For the Summer term the group are working on the play Bright Young Things working towards a performance for family and friends during the final session of the term.

We offer free taster sessions for young people to come and spend time with the group and see if our youth theatre is right for them, so please contact us to arrange.

Youth Theatre Bursary places

Thanks to the generous sponsorship and support of Lamb Brooks we are able to offer a number of Youth Theatre Bursaries to young people from Basingstoke who would like to take part.
At Proteus we believe every young person should have the opportunity to access the arts, whether they are experiencing performances as an audience member or through participation in our Youth Theatre, and with schools under pressure and creative subjects being cut, this support has never been more vital.

As a not-for-profit organisation we work hard to keep ticket prices and youth theatre membership (£7 per session) as affordable as possible, however we are delighted to be able to offer up to 3 sponsored bursary places per term to enable those young people most in need to take part, and who otherwise could not participate due to financial barriers.
If you are interested in finding out more about a bursary place in one of our Youth Theatre groups please email [email protected] for more information
