The Proteans

The Proteans are a community theatre workshop company affiliated to Proteus Theatre Company. The group, made up of adults from North Hampshire area, access the diverse actors and artists working with Proteus and in turn create their own work under the banner of 'The Proteans'

Recent projects include the sell-out run of 'Allo 'Allo in June 2017 and our long tradition of Summer Shakespeare performances in the Walled Garden, Down Grange.

Members come and see all of Proteus' professional performances and critically engage in the work. They also get involved in larger participatory projects that Proteus undertakes including local events such as Basingstoke Day of the Dead.

A friendly and sociable group, they only undertake performances when they feel like it, and even then, not all the members of the group have to be involved. Whilst many of the current members are very active participants - the ethos is to explore creativity, performance and above all, for sheer enjoyment of making, performing and experiencing live theatre.
