❄The Midwinter Macabre is almost upon us......👻
Yes in the great aural tradition of ghost stories at Christmas, The Proteans present and evening of chilling tales in the darkest corners of our theatre, after the lights go out!!
The performance will be a promenade show where ...you will move around in the shadows of the set for our Christmas show to hear sinister tales with a festive twist.
Shows on Thursday 11th December at 8pm & Friday 12th December at 8pm

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting @henrycmaynard from @flabbergast_theatre in our space to work on a really texturally exciting and vital new piece of work, tackling themes of loneliness, male mental health and interweaving #folklore layering sound and experimenting with Celtic instruments ...such as the #Carnyx
It was so interesting spending time talking about the project with Henry (and meeting Freya 🐶) and we look forward to seeing where the project leads.
Supporting artists to make new work is a core part of what we do at Proteus but much of this happens behind the scenes. We wanted to shine a spotlight on this work and encourage artists who might benefit from a week with us to reach out.

Nine Sixteenths is a journey through 3 acts, exploring themes of representation and pop culture with a nostalgia for the early 00’s, and the hopes and dreams of 4 black female performers through a visual variety of devised theatre, dance and lip sync.
Inspired by the ...infamous fallout of Janet Jackson's exposed breast for just nine sixteenths of a second on live TV back in 2004, in the SuperBowl halftime show finale.
Proteus supported Paula to create this groundbreaking new work which shines a light on the ways in which black women are scrutinised in the public eye and who really controls the media narrative.
