Exit 6: Spooky 6

A curated evening of films to send shivers down your spine celebrating the ‘Dark half’ of the season for our Spooky 6 short film showcase

This is a chance film fans to enjoy a series of innovative shorts with a sinister twist, ranging from the unsettling to the supernatural and the downright horrifying (often comically!)

The short film format thrives in the horror genre, as it is the perfect length to build tension, using moments of disturbance that explore primal fears. Don’t forget breakout box office smash Backrooms started life as a YouTube short!

Each year the Exit 6 Film Festival team receive so many amazing submissions that fall into this category and after the success of last year’s ‘Spooky 6’ night, there are so many more that the team wanted to share with you!

• Date & Times: Thursday 8th October | Doors open 7pm, first film screened at 7.30pm

• Suitable For: 18+  please use the official cinema classifications as a guidance (which will be provided when line-up of films are announced.) ALL minors must be accompanied by an adult.
• Run Time: Approximately 85 mins with a 15 minute interval at the midway point
• Accessibility:  The venue is all based on the ground floor and so accessible for most wheelchairs. We have some limited disabled parking and an accessible toilet. Exit 6 Film Festival is a vibrant celebration of independent cinema set in the heart of Basingstoke. Every September, we curate an all-day diverse programme of short films from stunningly talented UK and international filmmakers, many of whom have gone on to stellar industry careers. Following of the 11th edition of Exit 6 at the Vue Basingstoke in September 2026, we’re hosting a series of themed showcase evenings featuring films from years gone by, so you can get a flavour of how amazing the Exit 6 Film Festival selection is every year, and we can enjoy watching them again.
