The team at Proteus are excited to reveal plans for welcoming back audiences and participants in Summer 2021, placing the joy of creating at the heart of everything we are planning! Register for our newsletter now to be the first to hear when tickets are on sale.

The Summer season promises to offer something for everyone; from storytelling adventures and workshops for young children and their families and a brand new co-production with Scratch Built Productions (Shed of Stories, Your Christmas Needs You) called You Need A Holiday, to a mini-festival The Smallest Festival In The World, celebrating acoustic music, spoken word, outdoor circus, workshops and live theatre. Our adult workshop group The Proteans return to the Walled Garden in Down Grange to perform The Importance of Being Earnest across two weekends, whilst our Proteus Youth Theatre groups come together for an outdoor ensemble production of their interpretation of Grimms Tales.
The hugely popular Late Night Assembly cabaret will be hosting an evening celebrating queer performance and after months online, they hope to at last to come together for an in-person Musical Bingo, with dancing and silly costumes galore! A new piece of specially commissioned performance, featuring a trio of popular Proteus alumni, Dan Edge, Danny Charles and Paul Huntley Thomas will be making it’s debut at the Creation Space and there will be another chance to enjoy the dark satire I’m Super, Thanks before it goes out on tour.

With so many people discovering or reigniting their passion for creativity during lockdown, we’d like to provide a space where people can share this with others. Involving the wider community in the curation of these events is at the heart of our celebration of creation in the community. As ever,, we invite our local audiences to contribute their ideas to help shape how we move forward in a post-Covid world, truly reflecting our belief that the Creation Space is, and will continue to be, a civic space for all to enjoy and participate in the arts.

We will be following the all the Government guidelines applicable at the time to ensure that we can make a safe return to in-person events. There are plans afoot to re-open and refresh our cafe with a new revitalised menu, sourcing artisan goods locally and to open up the Creation Space garden for the first time for some al-fresco fun, we hope everyone can enjoy whatever the British weather has to offer!
