proteus have joined forces with Drum Runners, a Basingstoke based Community Music Organisation, to pilot an exciting new multi-art form project for people with disabilities. The X5 pilot project is working with 5 disability organisations running workshops on the theme of the 5 senses. The pilot will be used to research and develop a large scale multi-art form installation which is planned for 2007.
Project leaders, Deborah Wilding of Proteus and Paul Midgley of Drum Runners, both have a long history of working in disability arts, but are excited to be joining forces for the first time to create an holistic multi-art form training for people with disabilities.
The workshops will enable special needs communities to work with professional artists in many disciplines, to learn new skills and create their own art. The participants will then be able to create input for the large scale installation project, which will encompass sound technology, film/video, graphic design, movement, the spoken word and live performance.
