Workshops

BESPOKE WORKSHOPS AT AFFORDABLE PRICES FROM THE THEATRICAL SAVILLE ROW!!

proteus will always create unique workshops tailored to suit your needs and participants. What follows here is a short selection of the kind of workshops we can offer, whether for Primary, Secondary, Further or Higher Education students, corporate clients looking for something different, Amateur Dramatic Companies wanting to enhance the skills of their members, or participant groups with physical disabilities, learning support needs or those with mental health issues. Proteus workshops can be a minimum of one hour in length to an entire week long residency – we will create the workshop to fit your timetable, simply contact us with your requirements and we'll do the rest!!

Basic Drama Skills

Using simple drama games, we explore storytelling, physical theatre and improvisation. Combined with exercises to help concentration and improve memory, this fun filled workshop is suitable for all ages.

Stage Craft

“Up Stage Left”, “Down Stage Right”, “Upstaging”, “The Wings”, “The Flies” – the language of the theatre can be confusing! But there's no need to worry. Let Proteus teach you the rules of performance, show you how to make the most of your talent and the secrets of stage presence.

Can you hear me at the back?

A fun vocal workshop including breathing, projection, diction and accents. Make your voice heard!

What's your problem?

This session can be used to raise awareness of various issues including those relating to ethnicity, disability, gender awareness, sexual orientation, alcohol, solvent or substance abuse or healthy living issues. It can be tailor made to provoke discussion or be used to enhance understanding amongst any age group.

Text into performance

Breaking down a script/play from the performer's perspective, including ‘actioning' of individual lines and physical moves to the ‘super-objective'.

What's the story?

Take a favourite story, book, poem, play or even song lyric and we'll help you turn it into a piece of performance!!

Improvisation
(
beginner or advanced)

This workshop can be used to introduce students to the process of devising a performance piece. It covers ways of getting started from scratch, devising from an existing text or source material and development techniques.

We can also offer this workshop at an advanced level to help accelerate work already in progress. Ideal for troubleshooting or to kick start slow moving work.

Physical Theatre

An introduction to practical methods of creating physical work. This workshop explores the development of mime, body language and movement skills. The workshop can also explore the physical re-interpretation of a familiar text

Characterisation

This workshop involves students in exploring various methods of creating a character. It is designed to leave students with practical skills to facilitate the creation of devised or text-based characters.

Shakespeare: Breaking the code

From ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream' for Primary school students to ‘Hamlet' for ‘A' Level students to ‘A Comedy of Errors' for Amateur Dramatic Companies we can create a workshop to unlock the Bard.
