Pie In the Sky
Friday 6th - Friday 13th September, weekdays 10am - 5.30pm
‘Pie in the sky’ is a term defined as an empty wish or promise derived from a song written in 1911, The Preacher and the Slave, by songwriter and labour activist Joe Hill. The show intends to touch on the philosophies of space and human behaviour, focussing primarily on the social construct and utopian ideals within a domestic space, explored through identity and the intimacy
of human relationships. Pie in the Sky hopes to encourage a discussion around these themes as something relational to everyday life and existence.
A collective of 4 contemporary artists hailing from in and around Farnham; Catherine McCaw-Aldworth, Eleanor McLean, Robert Last and Abi Braley.

What does it mean to below - to a place, a person, yourself? How do you find home when the ideal is so elusive? Home is sanctuary, conflict, food, people, the place you run to, or from, all or none of the above. This is a conversation about home and displacement; how one shapes the other. Individual stories collected through interviews with curator Tolu Agbelusi, come alive in poetry, and visual arts extend the conversation. responses to poems that yeild collaborations with illustration, animation and dance.
This exhibition goes hand in hand with Ile La Wa (We Are Home) a show at the Creation Space on 10th April which interrogates what it mean to say we are home at a time when displacement is a constant.
