Workshop: Exploring supporting female characters in well-known fiction through devising.
Fri 2nd August, 2.30pm – 5pm, FREE
This workshop will give participants the opportunity to imagine new stories for their favourite supporting or 'minor' female characters in fiction (particularly those works on the GCSE curriculum). Suitable for young people aged 11+ participants (Key Stage 3&4) will go on to create a short scene in groups using devising techniques.
Schedule for the afternoon:
Part 1: Devising (Minor Character to Major Role)
Part 2: Script Interpretation (Using extracts from Heroines In Limbo)
4.pm - 5pm: Rehearsed Reading (short extract) + Q&A discussion. Workshop participants, parents/guardians invited
Venue: Proteus Creation Space, Council Road, Basingstoke RG21 3DH
The workshop will be led by fully DBS checked Actor / Facilitator / Drama Teacher, Clare McCall and supported by The Heroine Chronicles Artistic Director, Callie Nestleroth.
Places are limited and open to a maximum of 15 participants.

Theatre-maker Clare McCall from The Heroine Chronicles is creating drama workshops for young people, to run alongside a new play ‘with the working title ‘Heroines in Limbo’. The play takes female characters from works on the GCSE Curriculum and gives them a space to discover what they could develop into, given their own platform.
