Ladies That Walk
Review

"Walk this way for an alternative play"

"Érin Geraghty, who plays the inveterate village dog-walker Margaret (a self-professed "nosey cow") is an expert storyteller. Her flair for honesty filled the stage with the characters of her life, while her casual intimacy made the audience feel as if she were addressing us individually - also a design of Marshall's script."

"Geraghty presents Margaret as a busybody whose natural state is a mix of curiosity and indignation. She also pulls no punches in her commentary."

"The plot does not overburden itself. Margaret follows the village gossip in the same way one might follow The Archers or Eastenders. If it fails to distract her from her own problems, it at least makes them look meagre by comparison. But the catch is that Margaret's hobby sometimes succeeds too well."

"Ladies That Walk succeeds on several levels - as a mild social comedy, as a one-actress play, and as a touring village show - and it is worth seeing. But its main achievement above all these is the capitalising on the humorous notion that dog owners are indeed a unique breed."
