Previous Winter Tour: Around the World in 80 Days

Four Dames in search of a Panto

by James Barry with music by Mark Helyar

proteus presents, for one season only, an unashamed homage to that great theatrical tradition… the panto!

One dame is usually plenty. Two might be pushing it. But imagine four, glamorously gracing the stage, each searching for the ultimate starring role.

Join them on their quest for identity as they journey through the magical history of family entertainment. Battling with the baddies, subverting the stereotypes, uncovering many of the plots, gags and routines that have kept this theatrical tradition thriving for hundreds of years.

An impossible feat? Probably, but we're going to give it our best shot. Oh yes we are!

Slapstick, songs, strings of sausages and that most peculiar institution of all – fellas in frocks! Surreal seasonal silliness for the whole family, proteus -style.

It will be touring to village halls, community and arts centres throughout the South from November 2004 to January 2005. To view performances in your area click here.

Target Audience: Family aged from 7 years upwards
Running Time: Approx 2 hours (including interval)

“You would be mad to miss a proteus show… first class entertainment. Fantastic!” audience comments on Colonel Cody

“ proteus should be applauded for taking live theatre to small rural village halls”
