Sheherazade
A story-telling project in Primary Schools
This project was first delivered in schools in Basingstoke and Southampton in 2009 as part of the 'Find Your Talent' scheme. 'Sheherazade' is a project that seeks to locate the storyteller within. The project can work with students of all ages and asks them to find the true stories and tall tales told and re-told within their own families. Participants are encouraged to connect with their Grandparents and older relatives, finding out the tales of family members passed down through the generations. The project then works to create performance pieces from the stories, leading to a festival of family tales.
This project can run over any time limit, from a whole term to a week to two days and with any number of participants.

“I've been meaning to email you since the hour that you left us to thank you for a brilliant couple of days. The response from the kids was wonderfully positive and they all really loved the experience. The response from parents was equally positive. It's hard to please parents and pupils, let alone all parents and all pupils, so well done for that achievement!”
