Punchbag

a project about domestic violence

Punchbag banner 1

'Punchbag' is an interactive arts project designed to raise awareness of domestic violence, effecting cultural change amongst the participating communities and in particular with boys. The project will work in Southampton and Basingstoke with women affected by domestic violence and with Primary and lower secondary age boys.

A series of ‘happenings' in Southampton and Basingstoke involving photography, performance, writing and sound will be created by participants, in the centre of the community, for free. The work of each geographical group will be swapped and shown in the other area, in this way anonymity will be guarded.

This will be a two year programme working with women's groups and family centred organisations as well as in schools and colleges, and groups outside the education system via connexions and youth offending units, to raise awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding domestic violence in the wider community.

To get involved in the project simply text 'Yes' followed by your name and location - either Southampton or Basingstoke to 07738003397 and we will send you details of sessions in your area. Or email info@proteustheatre.com for more information.
