Proteus theatre company present drama workshops for adults affected by physical or learning disabilities.
These free of charge workshops provide a unique opportunity to Breakout! and explore the challenges of day to day life through drama, theatre and other creative art-forms .
Breakout! is designed to help individuals to express themselves in new and challenging ways through theatre and performance skills. As well as offering the chance to work with an experienced professional theatre company, Breakout! builds on communication skills and confidence while offering a way to explore the perceptions, myths and challenges associated with disability.
Proteus , a professional touring company based in Basingstoke, has a long history in working with people with disabilities, previously running a comparable workshop formerly known as ‘Breakthrough' for six years. The group is made up of adults with learning difficulties, physical and mental disabilities and is open to all who wish to be involved. Breakout! is now in its second year of successful interactive workshops and now looking for new members as the group expands.
